Ms. Dorothy Hukill (Republican) is the Florida State Representative for the Ocala area and is a publicly elected official who is paid to represent Florida Citizens.

.

A petition was created in response to Florida Park Bureaucrats plans to eliminate Wild Waters because they want a more “Park like setting” in it’s place as show in the above video

The petition has been signed by over 3,400 people from all over the state of Florida, the United States and by members of our troops in the Mid East.

You can view the petition here: http://www.change.org/petitions/save-wild-waters-petition

Since Wild Waters is owned by the State of Florida, Wild Waters is owned by Florida citizens. Florida citizens also pays every Florida State Official’s salary so they should be doing what the citizens of this state want. In 2015, letters were sent and calls made to State Senator Hukill asking that she take action to preserve Wild Waters for Families and Children in Marion County and Ocala.

Ms. Hukill failed to respond to ANY of the calls or letters from citizens.

Wild Waters serves a large area which includes Marion, Alachua, Levy, Putnam, Citrus, Lake and Sumter Counties. It is also a tourist attraction and provides traditional summer jobs for young people. Comments have been received from people all over the United Sates stating they come to Ocala every year to visit Wild Waters.

Wild Waters is one of the few places young people have to go in our area during the summer.

If our Water Park were to be closed it would be devastating to thousands of families, children and teens in Central Florida who enjoy going there every year during the summer. It would cause a hardship on families causing them to have to drive up to two hours to the next closest water parks in Orlando, Tampa or Daytona. Many would not be able to take their children to a water park at all during the summer due to the long drive.

Eliminating Wild Waters would be a huge step backwards for the Ocala area and also cause the loss of over 60 summer jobs, many which are filled by young people.

The public overwhelming supports Wild Waters but Florida State officials have ignored the wishes of the very citizens who pay their salaries.

Ms. Hukil failed to do her job by ignoring calls or letters from her constituents. She failed to stand up for Families and Children in our community to have Wild Waters preserved.

When politicians become complacent, fail to respond and help their constituents, it’s time for them to either retire or be voted out of office.
